PORTRAIT OF A FRIEND

I can't give solutions to all of life's problems,
doubts, or fears.
But I can listen to you, and together we can seek
answers.

I can't change your past with all it's heartache and
pain, nor the future with it's untold stories.
But I can be there now when you need me to care.

I can't keep your feet from stumbling.
I can only offer my hand that you may grasp it and not
fall.

Your joys, triumphs, successes, and happinesses are
not mine;
Yet I can share in your laughter and joy.

Your decisions in life are not mine to make, nor to
judge;
I can only support you, encourage you, and help you
when you ask.

I can't give you boundaries which I have determined
for you,
But I can give you the room to change, room to grow,
room to be yourself.

I can't keep your heart from breaking and hurting,
But I can cry with you and help you pick up the pieces
and put them back in place.

I can't tell you who you are.
I can only love you and be your friend.

Dear Datin Mamasita

Thanks for your sincere and touching comment. I feel the same way too and am greatly blessed to know you. It is true that despite not having met, our friendship forged in cyberspace via blogging is very heartwarming indeed and as such, we share good kam cheng. :-)

I have not been writing for some time because I have not been well. I do not know why my blood pressure is so high and the figures are freaking me out!!!

Last night, the reading was 168/118 and just now, it was 150/98.

Take care and selamat berpuasa.

hugs,
Paula

paula, during my last visit back, i went to see a friend in her late stages of cancer. It broke my heart to see her suffering - yet, she wanted to go out with us and be with us the way we used to go out before. when another friend and i helped her to the restaurant, just couldnt contain my tears. we could only listen to her and see her suffering, but we couldnt do anymore except for prayers. thanks for this portrait of a friend.

Sorry we couldnt meet up when i was there. i didnt get to go to penang. just flew to alor setar on a day trip. may be next time as Penang is my favourite spot.

Dear Kak Teh,

How lovely to see you here again. You are most welcome re this post which I love too because it reminds me of a few friends who were there for me during my best and worst times.

Thanks for sharing about your friend. I hope that she will have the strength to go through her journey and that her loved ones will be strong for her too. Obviously, she loves you and your other friend very much to be able to withstand the pain just so to be with you both. That is the beauty and sacrifice of a real friend. You are blessed!

I hope to see you the next time you return...or if ever I swing over to your neck of the woods.

Take care and selamat berpuasa.

Hi Datin Mamasita

Thanks so much, dear friend. I think it is to do with the age lol!!! But I've never had such high readings before and it has been quite unnerving.

Take care and have a good evening.
